August 10, 2016 | Manny V. Martinez Northwest Vista College student, Alex Castillo, is the recipient of the City of San Antonio’s Mayor’s Fitness Council Scholarship. Special Projects Manager, Rebeca CF Baquero, with the City of San Antonio, said that Alex served as a Fitness Council Student Ambassador while at Southwest High School. There he helped implement a program which resulted in his school adding salad bars to the cafeteria as a food option. Through his own dedication to healthy living and exercise, Alex himself has lost over 100 pounds. He says his educational goals are leaning towards personal fitness training. “I chose Vista, because I love my instructors there as well as the environment,” he said.
