NVC PR Team Earns Creative Awards

The Northwest Vista College Public Relations Team received three Hermes Creative Awards and one Honorable Mention in the 2012 competition. The Hermes Creative Awards, administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, received 4,700 entries from throughout the United States and other countries. 

Northwest Vista College, one of the Alamo Colleges, was only one of three San Antonio entities that received the Platinum and Gold Awards. The other organizations were K. Fernandez & Associates and Port San Antonio.   

Paul Vallejo and Renata Serafin received the Hermes' prestigious Platinum Award for the “Get Your Degree at NVC:  More Money” video. To view the winning entry, click here. The Platinum Hermes Award is presented to those entries judged to be among the most outstanding in the competition and recognized for their excellence in terms of quality, creativity and resourcefulness. About 15 percent of the entries won this award. 

NVC's Public Relations Team — Melissa Aguirre, Shawn Harward, Lisa McDaniel, Melissa Monroe-Young, Renata Serafin and Paul Vallejo – received the Hermes Gold Award for the 2009-2010 President's Report titled “Innovation.”  Renata also received the Hermes Gold Award for the “Get Your Degree at NVC” public relations plan. The Gold Award is presented to those entries judged to exceed the high standards of the industry norm. Approximately 19 percent of the entries received this award.   

Melissa Monroe-Young received Honorable Mention for the “Get Your Degree at NVC” electronic newsletter. Approximately 11 percent of the entries received this certificate. Honorable mention certificates are granted to those entries that meet the expectations of the judges.     

The Hermes Creative Awards are judged by industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.   

Among the Platinum and Gold winners were Amtrak, Better Business Bureau, Bloomberg L.P., Carnegie Mellon Today, Carnegie Mellon University, The Coca-Cola Company,  Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, Lewis PR, Texas Medical Association, Texas A&M University – Kingsville, Hilton Worldwide, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Peabody Energy, Port San Antonio, Public Communications Worldwide, Schlotzsky's and Turner Entertainment Networks.
