In this role, Arica will collaborate with NVC students from the Repertory Dance Ensemble to create original choreography to be performed at Vista Dances on May 4 at 8:00pm in the Palmetto Theater.

Arica’s journey in dance started at James Madison High School where she participated in activities such as the dance team.

Choosing to attend Northwest Vista College she found growing interest in subjects such as jazz, modern dance and ballet. While at Vista, Arica performed with the NVC Repertory Dance Ensemble gaining experience in technique and performance.

After earning her associate degree in dance from Northwest Vista, Arica completed a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts, with an emphasis in dance studies, from Texas State University in San Marcos. While there she was active in programs such as, C.I.M.T.E.Y.A. (Creation in Motion – Traveling Ensemble for Young Audiences), a company whose mission was to teach S.T.E.M. concepts through creative movement to elementary-aged children, and an improvisation troupe called Transient Dance Collective.

From Texas, Arica traveled to Trinidad and Tobago, where she interned with the COCO Dance Festival, learning about event administration and performing alongside resident artists.

Since returning to San Antonio, Arica has been active in the dance community performing in several dance showcases throughout the city and state-wide. She is a company member with grit danceworks, a contemporary modern dance company, and teaches contemporary/modern dance throughout San Antonio.
