NVC Connecting to Alumni

For several years, NVC has been publishing an electronic newsletter for alumni to continue building relationships and support for the College. The newsletter is distributed to more than 2,500 alumni each quarter.

Topics addressed include alumni profiles, college events and activities, campus services such as career advising, and scholarships. “Optimal Resume” is also available to alumni, who may be job searching.

Alumni newsletter recipients recently participated in a survey which provided an opportunity to help shape the nature and type of news as well as the services and events for NVC graduates. NVC Alumni & Research Specialist Manuel Martinez provided some key findings from the survey:

•     96% of graduates said they are satisfied having graduated from NVC
•     98% reported they would recommend NVC to others
•     52% still keep in touch with NVC classmates
•     70% of graduates transferred to a university within the first year of graduation
•     33% reported earning a Bachelor of Science, 20% a Bachelor of Arts, 10% a Master-level degree after leaving NVC
•     A majority of respondents reported attending a college or university out of the San Antonio area
•     Locally, respondents were attending University of Texas at San Antonio, another Alamo College, or Texas A&M University at San Antonio
