March 18, 2015 | SharkAdmin From Ryan Rodriguez, who received the NVC Alumni Scholarship this year “I would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you. The NVC Alumni Scholarship will help me finish my associate’s degree and prepare me to push forward to obtain my bachelor’s. This shows that all my hard work, struggle and determination have helped me to be selected to receive this scholarship. Northwest Vista has been such a blessing to me—the staff, people and the college itself gave me an environment in which I could feel comfortable and driven to succeed. Next year, my daughter is planning on following me and attending Northwest Vista also. I have worked hard to maintain a 4.0 GPA and to show my kids that if your daddy can go back to school after so many years, then you can do anything as long as you put in the effort. My name is Ryan Rodriguez. I am 35 years old. I am retired Army Infantry, was wounded in Iraq and retired in 2009. I am married and we have four kids—ages 3, 6, 14 and 16. My wife Rina is a nurse and we live in San Antonio. After I retired, I worked hard to heal and get back on my feet. It is an ongoing project. I am proud of my service, proud of my wife and kids and proud of what I have accomplished at Northwest Vista.” To make a contribution to the NVC Alumni Scholarship or any other NVC or Alamo Colleges scholarship or program, please contact Lynne T.
