September 17, 2015 | SharkAdmin Northwest Vista College was just awarded a $10,000 grant to implement ArtWave SA. The proposed program will engage 60 aspiring middle and high school visual artists, ages 12-18, by providing opportunities for them to receive visual arts instruction and exhibit their art in a college environment. ArtWave will take place over two weekends in March 2016, starting with a weekend lecture and workshop series provided by two established area artists, Vincent Valadez and Alex Rubio; and ending with a public exhibition held the following Saturday to display the work of those who participated in the workshops the previous Saturday. ArtWave SA will be offered through a collaborative partnership with several organizations engaged in youth arts education, including: the North East School of the Arts, San Anto Cultural Arts, and Say Si. This project is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts
