June 16, 2016 | SharkAdmin “The skills and tools I learned at NVC are still relevant in my industry to this day.” Joel Juarez, graduated from Northwest Vista College in 2008 with an associate’s degree in Multimedia. He credits the classes and experience gained at NVC as being instrumental in helping him complete a bachelor’s degree in Radio, Television and Film, from the University of North Texas. Joel’s focus on all things media-related, along with his education, continue to influence him both creatively and professionally he says. His accomplishments have led to a variety of opportunities that include a career at UTSA as a multimedia specialist. While at NVC, Joel enriched his learning experience by working as a lab assistant in the multimedia lab. “NVC provided me with my first part-time job, which taught me about responsibility, interacting with others and working towards a common goal,” he said. Joel says as a lab assistant he had the privilege to work with an amazing team of staff, professors and students. “NVC had, and still has, more high-end equipment available to students than other colleges and universities,” he added. “I was able to help other students with the equipment we carried.” He encourages NVC student’s to take college seriously. “Go to class, join clubs and meet new people,” he said. “If you’re looking for work, look into work-study positions on campus.
