June 16, 2016 | SharkAdmin “A degree is well worth it, and the feeling of such accomplishment is great!” Success runs in the family for Hilda Rodriguez, who graduated from Northwest Vista College with both an Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees in 2010. Her goals to earn multiple degrees have included a motivated support group that consists of both her husband and son, who also made the decision to attend NVC at the same time. The three have since managed to complete their associate degrees and will soon each share the accomplishment of having completing their bachelor’s degrees together. Currently in her senior year at Texas A&M San Antonio, Hilda has worked with the Northside Independent School District. She is now building her experience in the classroom student teaching and is in the final steps of earning her bachelor’s degree in EC-6 Education. Hilda says her experiences at NVC helped set the groundwork for success in her family. “We remember that every teacher (at NVC) was absolutely incredible,” she said. “They cared that each individual learned and that each one of us left NVC with plenty of knowledge to go into a bigger university.” Based on her experiences, Hilda offers students these words of advice, “It (education) is something that nobody can take away from you. Sometimes it may seem rough and you may want to quit, but do not give up.” Hilda considers the Vista Value of Creativity her favorite because she says, “we should always try to be opened-minded about new ways of doing things, and to trying out new ideas.” Hilda, and husband Ronald, will be graduating from Texas A&M San Antonio in 2013. Their son Joseph, also alum of Northwest Vista, graduated in 2010 with an associate’s degree in Business. He has since gone on to complete a double major from UTSA in Business Administration and Accounting and Finance.
