June 16, 2016 | SharkAdmin “My associate degree has given me the opportunity to launch myself into an industry I always wanted to be in.” Click on your morning television and you may see the bright smile and upbeat personality of Cassandra Lazenby. The 2004 graduate of Northwest Vista College is the co-host of “Daytime @ Nine,” which airs weekdays on Fox San Antonio. Cassandra feels that an associate degree from NVC has played a big part in helping launch her into an industry she always wanted to be in. “It has given me the confidence and ability to move on to a university and eventually pursue a career in TV broadcasting,” she said. When asked to share what stood out most at NVC, Cassandra remembers both the professors and technology. “By far, NVC has the very best in the industry,” she said.” “The professors were absolutely amazing and the classes were small and intimate. I love to be able to learn in that environment.” Graduating from NVC continues to influence her life to this day, she explains. “To be able to do what you’re passionate about and get paid for it? That’s not work. It’s what most people dream of.” Cassandra says she utilizes her favorite Vista values every day on a live TV show. “Community and synergy are the characteristics of any successful team,” she said. A staunch supporter of children’s education, Cassandra devotes countless hours volunteering for causes that benefit kids in the community. She tells current and future students that a recipe for success is to believe in yourself, find your passion and don’t stop until you achieve it. Her advice for NVC students, “You have the ability to carve your own path, so work hard, show up and never give up.” Favorite Vista Values: Community and Synergy
