August 30, 2012 | SharkAdmin Northwest Vista College Student Leadership & Activities has created an innovative multi-prong leadership program for students. The “Learning 2 Lead” program is being launched this semester as a way to help students develop basic knowledge and skills essential for effective and ethical leadership. This self-paced program empowers students in developing the knowledge and skills necessary for success in today's global community. Darryl Nettles, coordinator of Student Leadership & Activities, is hoping faculty will encourage students to attend this comprehensive program. “Students should enroll to gain insights on leadership/followership in today’s global community and to enhance their marketability for completion and transfer to a four-year college or university, and future employment,” Darryl said. The free program is open to all currently enrolled NVC students. Students must be in good standing and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0. A certificate and reference letter will be awarded to students who complete 12 hours of leadership seminars that include “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective College Students,” time management and conflict management. Students must also complete three hours of team building activities and five hours of community service. Students can register for the program by going to this link.
