February 1, 2013 | SharkAdmin Kudos to the NVC Degree Completion Team for analyzing 644 graduation applications for the fall 2012 semester. The team was able to complete this enormous project ahead of its Jan. 11, 2013 deadline to the National Student Clearinghouse. Deanna Villarreal, NVC degree completion special projects coordinator, said her team was able to complete this project in a very short period with the support offered by the advising team and the college community. Of the 644 applicants, 446 students received associate degrees or certificates. The diplomas and certificates will be mailed by mid-February. Additionally, another 41 students completed with Marketable Skills Awards. Deanna said all students have been notified via their ACES email regarding their completion status. If students expect to graduate in May, they must meet the March 18 deadline to meet with an academic advisor for the mandatory graduation advising. Also on March 6-7, the Degree Completion Team will host “Grad-A-Palooza” at the Cypress Campus Center from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The team will set up a table to inform students about graduation and the benefits of receiving an associate degree. An information table will also be on the first floor of Live Oak Hall on March 7 from 3:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. The commencement will be held May 18 at the Freeman Coliseum. Students should contact the Degree Completion Team at [email protected] if they have not committed to participate in the commencement. Deanna added the college community is invited to attend the commencement to celebrate the accomplishments of NVC students and the contributions they made to “Creating Opportunities for Success.”
