NVC Cross Country Team Performs Well

[image 1]Getting up in the wee hours of the morning to run at NVC is something a group of dedicated students have been doing for the last few months. They run in local races, supporting charities and enjoy the camaraderie of being a part of the NVC Cross Country Team.

Ashley McGee, an NVC Biology instructor, has been coaching the NVC Cross Country team for the last few semesters and is proud of her runners who have been putting up outstanding performances.

On Feb. 23 at the City Wellness 5k, Juan Perez was the overall race winner with a running time of 18:13.

  • Vanessa Guerra was the second place finisher in the 20-24 age group;
  • Elizabeth Kilby, fourth place;
  • April Mammel, fifth place;
  • Ashley Kilby, sixth place;
  • Alyssa Barrera, eighth place;
  • Amanda Graham; 13th place; and
  • Gizelle Sariñana did an excellent job in her first 5k race, placing ninth in her age group.

For that same event, the 5k NVC male runners were Bryan Allison, placing fifth in his age group; and Joel Obregon placing fourth in his age group. The female runners in the 5k were Alyssa Barrera placing second in her age group; and Gizelle Sariñana placing fourth in her age group.

The NVC Cross Country Team is looking forward to more races in the upcoming months, including the Foam Fest 5k on [image 3]April 6. The team encourages new runners to be a part of the team.
