Visit Vista Program Keeps Students on Track

[image 1]Making enrollment easy for high school and transfer students is the new purpose of NVC's Visit Vista program.
Previously NVC offered campus visits, now Visit Vista Orientation includes the visit and getting students through the enrollment process.

Four Saturday events were held this spring, one each in February, March, April and May. More than 300 students attended the four dates, with many accompanied by family members. Attendance grew at each event with more than 150 attending in May.

Each student is given a staff or faculty member as a “Vista Connection.” This employee contacts the student via email throughout the spring and summer to serve as advocates through the college enrollment process and also be a point of contact.

“The great thing about the orientation is that each student leaves with a checklist, so they can see what has been completed and what is still missing,” said Yolanda Reyes Guevara, senior coordinator of NVC's Recruitment team. “This is a big help because we've heard in the past that students say they don't know what comes next.”

All inquiries made by students to their Vista Connection will be tracked over the summer. This allows the NVC Orientation team to make improvements to the program and in other materials provided to students in orientation sessions.
