Financial Wellness & Understanding Affordable Care Act

Financial Wellness Class – Managing Student Loan Debt

Struggling with college debt? Consumer Credit Counseling Service of San Antonio's (CCCSSA) class on Managing Student Loan Debt goes over the many repayment paths available to borrowers, including loan forgiveness programs and Debt Management Plans which can help borrowers pay off other forms of debt, such as credit cards. The CCCSSA class includes general information on the different types of student loans and is intended to help borrowers avoid or get out of default. This is a lunch and learn session from 12-1:15pm on Wednesday, Oct. 16 in Manzanillo Hall 204E. Lunch will be provided for those who register through AlamoLearn (key word: student loan).

NVC Org Learning offers this class as part of an on-going Financial Wellness series of classes conducted by CCCSSA, which is a nonprofit member agency of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling. They have been helping South Texans manage their debts since 1984. Their mission is to provide professional and affordable finance education, confidential counseling and debt management.

Understanding the Affordable Care Act

Do you want to learn more about the federal government’s Affordable Care Act – often referred to as Obamacare – and how it may impact your health care options? If so, come to this informational, Q&A session conducted by Geena Johnson (Alamo Colleges Benefits Manager) and Idalia Velazquez (NVC Benefits Representative). While the Act will have little impact on 2014 coverage options for Alamo Colleges’ full-time employees, it does provide options for part-time employees.

This NVC Org Learning session takes place Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 12-1:15pm in the Innovation Center in Manzanillo Hall. Seating is limited to 50! Drinks and snacks will be provided. Register in AlamoLearn.
