October 21, 2013 | SharkAdmin Employee Development Day – Oct. 30 Save the date! NVC Employee Development Day is set for Wednesday, Oct. 30. Details for this year’s event will be forthcoming in the week ahead. What I can tell you at this point is that our learning will be accompanied by air guitars, hula-hoops and flying monkeys! The opening session begins in Palmetto at 9 a.m. We’ll have some fun learning together! Later that day, be sure to attend the first women’s home basketball game at 6 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 8 p.m. The Huisache gym will be decked out in pink to bring awareness to Breast Cancer Awareness month. Graduation Deadline – Oct. 31 Please remind students that if they plan on completing their associate degree this fall, they need to get in their graduation application by Thursday, Oct. 31. Direct them to the Advising Welcome Center to meet with an academic advisor and complete a degree review before it’s too late for fall graduation. In case a student does not meet that deadline, he/she may still graduate, but the degree would not be received until the annual spring ceremony. Golf Tournament – Nov. 15 Another event coming up is the fourth annual NVC MAS golf tournament at our neighborhood Hyatt Hill Country golf course. The event is held to raise scholarships for students in the Mexican American Studies program. Faculty, staff, students and community members get to have fun together while raising funds for a worthy cause. The entry fees are $125 per individual. Form your own four-person team for the scramble or just enter as a single player and the organizers will put you on a team. Hope to see you out there. For more information, go to this link.
