Alternative Spring Break Trip

[image 1] Kelly Blanco of Student Leadership and Activities took six students from NVC to Tucson, Ariz as part of the United Way Alternative Spring Break program.

The NVC students were a part of 16 total students, who worked at six Boys & Girls Clubs, taking part in educational activities and sprucing up the facilities.

Kelly said during the day, they did gardening and cleaning at several of the clubs. In the afternoons, students assisted in the development and implementation of the club's student programs.

Students “camped” at one of the organization's clubs for the entire week, sleeping on cots that were donated by the American Red Cross. All of the food for the students was donated by local restaurants and grocers.

A Tucson local news station ran a story about this. Kelly said the station mistakenly said we were all from University of Arizona, but they are Wildcats too, so it's okay!

NVC student Juliangeli Rodriguez also wrote a story about the trip: [file 1]
