Beverly Miller

“Not only was I proud of myself, but so were my Husband, kids and the rest of my family.”

Beverly Miller earned her Pharmacy Certification from Northwest Vista College in 1998. Shortly after graduating she found a job with University Health System, where she’s worked for the past 15 years.

“My Pharmacy Certification has enabled me to be successful in my career,” she said. Beverly is also currently president of the American Association of Pharmacy Technicians, traveling to different states each year to represent both the Alamo Chapter and University Health System Inpatient Pharmacy.

In addition, she also supervises high school students during their clinical rotations, as well as technical school students performing pharmacy internships.

Beverly says the dedication and patience of one particular teacher at NVC has been one of the most influential moments in her life.

“I was going to drop my Pharmacy Calculations class because I was having a difficult time understanding the math,” she explained.

“The teacher took time to tutor me before and after class and would not let me quit. He told me he was not going to let me off that easy and that he would help me get through the class.”

Beverly says she managed to earn an “A” in the class and the experience from passing that math course inspired her to succeed in other subjects.

Her advice for current NVC students is to never give up. “Never let any obstacles get in the way of graduating from college. Pursue being successful and fulfilling your dream,” she said.
