Counseling Services for Students

Did you know NVC has counseling services for students?
NVC Counseling Services, located in the Wellness Center (Cypress Campus Center, 204), is excited to announce that the online Alcohol screening has been expanded to include screenings for Depression, PTSD, Bipolar, Eating and Anxiety disorders. These are open to ALL Alamo Colleges students through the Counseling Services website. Screenings are free, confidential and available 24/7. Demographic information collected through the screening will be completely anonymous. There is no way to connect screening results to the student.

These screenings are not meant to replace treatment or emergency care. The screening is provided so students can find out, in a few minutes, whether or not professional consultation would be helpful. We encourage faculty and staff to try the assessments so that you can be better informed on what the student will experience. We also offer:

  • Referrals to outside mental health agencies according to individual student needs
  • Short-term, individual counseling or crises intervention for students experiencing  home, academic or social concerns that are interfering with their success in the NVC community
  • Consultation with faculty or department regarding Strategies of Behavioral Intervention (SOBI)
  • Mental health related topic presentations for classes upon request by faculty
