Culture of Respect – Required Training

Northwest Vista College is committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for our students, faculty, and staff. To help us with these efforts, we are introducing student training as required by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 – Sex Discrimination in Education.

This new training initiative was reviewed and selected by our own Alamo Colleges students. Communication will be released next week in an effort to provide additional information to faculty, staff, and students about the upcoming rollout of EverFi’s “Haven-Understanding Sexual Assault” training module.

Along with this required training for students, Alamo Colleges is asking that all employees complete the required Title IX Campus Save Act Training course through AlamoLearn by May 31. Although the training isn't due until May 31, we would like all NVC employees to complete by March 15We will also provide Q&A sessions for faculty and staff regarding our role as “Responsible Employees.”

Please help us meet this federal requirement by encouraging your students to complete the online training by March 6. Students will receive email communication on Feb. 16 to explain the training requirement and how to complete it. Students can access the training through the student tab on their ACES account in the AlamoCARES box.

I hope you will join me in encouraging our students to complete this training prior to March 6 as well as participate in our upcoming “Culture of Respect” events. If you have any questions, need additional information, or would like someone to come and present to your group or organization, please contact Jennifer Comedy-Holmes.
