September 17, 2012 | SharkAdmin GET OUT THE VOTE, NVC! 46 million young people ages 18-29 years old are eligible to vote, while only 39 million seniors are eligible to vote. Yet seniors turnout in higher numbers. Latinos have one of the lowest rates of voter registration and turnout at the polls. Yet they are the fastest growing demographic. According to research, registration is sometimes a larger hurdle than the act of voting itself. BUT YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Help engage the college community in the November election by registering students and employees to vote! Let Migdalia Garcia or Mary Dixson know if you are a deputy voter registrar so they can put you on their distribution list to help register at NVC. NVC is participating in Texas Votes, a statewide coalition of colleges and universities. Helping students to register is a mandate by the federal government for all institutions participating in federal financial aid programs.
