October 4, 2013 | SharkAdmin Nanette Lechner, an NVC alumni and student specialist in Dual Credit, along with fellow NVC alumni Thomas Rux, have been selected from a group of students at Texas A&M University San Antonio to sit on the panel at the 2013 Critical Questions in Education Conference. Nanette and Thomas are in a new cohort program through Texas A&M University San Antonio where they are put through a rigorous process of interviews and essays to be accepted and placed into local schools for an 18 month “Ready From Day One Internship” program. This unique teacher preparation initiative was developed as a “Model for Success” initiative under the leadership of Dr. Maria Hernandez Ferrier, president of Texas A&M-San Antonio. This is the 9th annual Critical Questions in Education Conference to be held Oct. 14-15 at the Menger Hotel in San Antonio. The conference is a program of The Academy for Educational Studies, which was founded in 2005 to create a community of people interested in having thoughtful conversations about important educational questions and issues. There are two theme questions for 2013: Are traditional teacher education programs preparing quality teachers? and How should we evaluate teachers, school administrators, or professors?
