Jimmie Bruce, vice president of Academics, gave an update on SACS (the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools – NVC’s accreditation body). In January of this year, NVC received a letter indicating that three areas require additional documentation to demonstrate compliance with SACS. Those areas are institutional effectiveness: educational programs; student achievement; and student complaints. [image 2]Jimmie said teams across the college have been working on these three areas. The E-Team will finalize the report in August and send it to SACS in September. Robert Lund of College Services introduced the new Innovation Portfolio in SharePoint. This is where employees can submit an innovation idea. This program empowers at-risk students to stay in school and help them achieve their goals. This video (here’s the link) was created for the Communities in Schools’ luncheon to help raise awareness and support. The students who participated in the production are: John Viruzo, Peter Northrop and Josh Barrera.
