July 2, 2014 | SharkAdmin Northwest Vista College has a new weather station thanks to Facilities' Bernie Zertuche and his team! This system offers weather information as it occurs at NVC. It gives current conditions, such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, highs and lows and what time they occur. It also gives a value called UV radiation, which is measured in heat index. The higher the index, the higher the exposure to UV radiation and therefore protection or awareness should be observed. There are guides to what heat index values call for protection or even going outside to exposure. The system will also indicate rainfall in inches set on our campus. The unit will also forecast what is coming at us later in the day. Weather.com will also give the same information, but this will tell us what is happening at NVC. The new weather station at NVC will help inform our department of outdoor conditions with regard to heat exposure, cooling tower efficiency, rainfall measurement for landscape, storm warnings, and general information.
