May 22, 2013 | SharkAdmin The NVC Repertory Dance Ensemble will be performing at W-I-P Crème on May 29 at 7 p.m. at the Sterling Houston Theater at the Blue Star Art Complex. Jayne King, who heads the Northwest Vista College dance program, said the ensemble was selected from all the W-I-P performers this season to be among the 10 featured in the final showcase performance. She said they will be performing an excerpt from “The Rite of Spring,” co-choreographed by herself and Jenny Brown. This is the second time the NVC dance company has been selected for WIP Crème. In May 2010, students performed “They Can Eat Pecans.” According to W-I-P (Works-In-Progress/Wednesdays-In-Performance) is a long-running collaboration between Jump-Start Performance Co. and the San Antonio Dance Umbrella. It is a monthly lab space for new, in-progress dance and other movement-based performance works accompanied by a facilitated post-performance discussion.
