Recently, eight Northwest Vista College students graduated from the Wounded Warrior Project's TRACK program and celebrated this achievement on Dec. 5 at the Pearl Brewery.
TRACK is the first education center in the nation designed specifically four wounded veterans. With facilities located in Jacksonville, Fla. and San Antonio, the 12-month program gives veterans a jump-start on meeting educational goals, personal health and wellness and career development. TRACK students enter as a cohort and continue through the program together. Some might continue their education at NVC or pursue another route.
At the Dec. 5 event, NVC President Dr. Ric Baser said he was “blown away” by the moving program and it was a “phenomenal thing to see all these students who went to NVC and it made me proud they selected us.”
The guest speaker was Major General Patrick Brady of the U.S. Army, who is the only living U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam to hold both the Medal of Honor and the Distinguished Service Cross, the nation's second highest award.
