NVC Receives Funding for Cyber Camps

NVC has received a contribution of $8,000 from the San Antonio STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Initiative Cooperative. The funds have been designated for two Cyber Star camps provided by the Texas Institute for Educational Robotics (TIER). Joe H. Sanchez, Jr. with the San Antonio CyberPatriot Center of Excellence was instrumental in making this donation possible.

With these funds, TIER provided two camps serving 15 middle school students each.  CyberPatriot veterans in high school and those who moved on to college assisted with the camps.

Cyber Star is a competition which tests the ability of students to defend a simulated corporation network from external hostile attacks. The simulation is designed to educate and motivate participants to become the nation’s much-needed cyber defenders. The sessions also provide an introduction to STEM career pathways.
