NVC Staff Council Advocates for YOU!

Northwest Vista College staff council meets on a monthly basis to represent the concerns of employees, to serve as a communications link among employees to administrators, and to provide input on Alamo Colleges policy, budget and guidelines for the benefit of the staff.
NVC Staff Council's president and vice president are a part of the Unified Staff Council, which takes topics and issues from the colleges and discusses them collaboratively to bring about positive change when working with administration.

In the last few years, your NVC Staff Council and Unified Staff Council representatives have lobbied for:

• An expanded Spring Break holiday
• Allowing employees time to be a part of Staff Councils
• Increases in salary
• Improved work environment
• Advocating for employee concerns
• Addition of procedure D.2.5.6 in the Alamo Colleges policies, which addresses peak workload scheduling
• Actively promotes employees through Employee of the Month Award and scholarships

In addition to these items, NVC Staff Council takes part and coordinates several events to build relationships among coworkers. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, Dec. 5 for the NVC holiday party. Staff Council moved up the holiday party to an earlier date to ensure faculty can attend as well. Tickets will going on sale soon and this event is a chance to meet new coworkers, have fun and dance.
