July 26, 2013 | SharkAdmin This is not playing games! It is developing and programming games. A video game developed by a team of NVC gaming students was selected as one of five top games submitted to the E3 College Game Competition sponsored by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). The game, called “Time Glitch,” was developed by the NVC students this spring specifically to enter the competition. Time Glitch players take on the role of Dr. Alexis Stunden (love that name), who uses time manipulation technology to solve puzzles and problems to restore balance to her space-time continuum. The five finalists in the competition were: – Alamo Colleges, Northwest Vista College (awesome) – Brigham Young University – Savannah College of Art and Design – University of Chicago – University of Wisconsin Stout. While Savannah College of Art and Design and University Of Wisconsin Stout were ultimately selected as co-winners of the completion, it is exciting to see our own Northwest Vista student team among the top five out of over 60 entries. The NVC team members are all majoring in 3D Animation, Game Programming or Game Production. An interview with some of the students can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzHThl9IhOY&feature=youtu.be. The competition was designed to recognize the best student talent in video-game development. Submissions were reviewed by a panel of top game publishers, developers and media outlets. The finalists earned the opportunity to display their games among nearly 200 computer and video game companies exhibiting at the E3 trade show June 11-13 in Los Angeles. ESA is the trade association that represents the U.S. computer and video game publishers and owns E3.
