September 13, 2012 | SharkAdmin [image 1]On Friday, Oct. 5, Northwest Vista College will hold its third annual MAS Scholarship Golf Tournament at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort and Spa. Corina Gonzalez-Stout of the Mexican American Studies (MAS) Committee that's organizing the event, said the goal is to raise scholarship funds for students, as well as to establish an endowment. Due to last year’s fundraising efforts, Corina said, two scholarships per semester were awarded! The tournament is a four-person scramble, with a registration fee of $125 per person. This year the tournament is starting earlier and golfers will get a southwest-style breakfast starting at 7 a.m. A buffet lunch reception, drinks and a goodie bag are also provided. Prizes are given out to best team, longest drive and closest to the pin. [image 2]The MAS committee is not only looking for golfers, but for student sponsors as well. In the past, NVC faculty and staff have donated money into the scholarship fund by sponsoring students to play golf. Employees have also pooled their money together to sponsor a student. The MAS committee is also seeking hole sponsors. For $200, signage for advertisement will be displayed at the golf course. Lastly, the MAS committee is also seeking items for door prizes. If you can donate or participate to help procure items, please contact 210-486-4611 or email [email protected]. Donations are needed and are greatly appreciated.
