July 18, 2012 | SharkAdmin Northwest Vista College Public Relations team received the 2012 Lone Star Award from the Houston Press Club for the 2009-2010 President’s Report, titled “Innovation.” Renata Serafin, director of Community and Public Relations, accepted the Lone Star Award on July 7, 2012 on behalf of the college. NVC’s President’s Report placed second in the Annual Report category. The other top winners were: University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (First Place) and St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System (Third Place). The Lone Star Awards are given each year in recognition of outstanding achievements in journalism and mass communication in Texas. The competition encompasses efforts in the fields of print, radio, television, internet journalism and public relations as well as student publications and broadcasts. “The President’s Report is a major project that encompasses the work of several teams across the college who provide research and writing assistance,” said Renata. “I would like to thank last year’s Advisory Team for helping to produce this winning product.”
