September 10, 2014 | SharkAdmin As the college embraces its Wildly Important Goals or WIGS, a number of areas have outlined initiatives they are working towards. At the NVC Convocation this year in August, those goals were shared with everyone. In case you missed it, here's what the different areas are focusing on: Student Success initiatives to further improve completion numbers in the coming year include support the number of student degree/certificates plan verifications (known on campus as NVC Completes). The goal is to increase this number from 0 to more than 5,400 by the end of August. This process includes verifying student degree plans, catalog years, and anticipated graduation dates. Student Success will also be working to hire and effectively train the 12 new advisors coming to NVC as part of the AlamoADVISE program. Academic initiatives designed to improve student completion include: Math – Increase enrollment in math/engineering courses required for graduation by 10% by August, 2015 Natural & Physical Sciences – Increase the fall 2014 retention rate in all science courses from 89% (fall 2013) to 91% by December 15, 2014 English – Advise 15 students per 16 week semester starting fall 2014 and ending December 15, 2015 Fine and Performing Arts/Kinesiology – Increase the number of declared majors advised from 0% to 100% in Art, Dance, Drama, Kinesiology, and Music by May 16, 2015 Workforce Programs Development Team – Increase the number of Workforce students identified for program completion from 0 to 160 by August 31, 2015 Academic Workforce Programs – Increase Workforce awards from 304 (2013/14) to 365 in 2014/15 by August 31, 2015. Social Sciences – Increase adjunct evaluations from 40% to 80% by December 15, 2014 Humanities – Increase adjunct evaluations from 62% to 80% by December 15, 2014
