“After completing my degrees, I became confident that I could be successful.”

Shawn Harward graduated from Northwest Vista College in 2003, with associate’s degrees in Multimedia Specialist and New Media Communication. He later transferred to UTSA where he completed a bachelor’s degree in Communication.

Since 2004, Shawn has worked at Northwest Vista College as a senior multimedia specialist in the Community and Public Relations area.  His creative talents can be seen daily on the college website and through various graphics around campus.

He says the creativity offered in learning and teaching at NVC taught him to apply confidence and passion to his academic, professional and personal life.

“What I remember most is the support I received from advisors and instructors who helped me complete my associate degrees,” he said.

Shawn values the faculty at Northwest Vista College for teaching him to be passionate and confident in speaking, writing and learning. “I had been to several colleges before NVC, but never felt comfortable as a college student,” he added. “NVC changed all that.”

Shawn encourages current and future students to get to know their instructors while they can. “This is a skill that will be invaluable as you move on to other academic institutions,” he said.
