November 4, 2012 | SharkAdmin About: Learning 2 Lead student program facilitated by Darryl Nettles “My name is Latrice Wilkinson and I would like to take this opportunity to share how the Leadership Program at Northwest Vista College has helped me as a person, student, and employee. I am a part-time student and will graduate December 2012 with an A.A. degree in Business Administration. I also work part-time on campus, but I am currently seeking full-time employment. I enrolled in the Leadership Program to find out how I can improve in areas of my life as a student and professional. I also wanted to get a better understanding of what employers are looking for in a professional and make myself more marketable. Within the past two months, I have gone on about ten interviews and six of them wanted to know if I had taken any Employee Development or Leadership courses. They were extremely impressed to know that I have been proactive as a student and employee in seeking professional development training on my own time. Employers are not just looking for students with a 4.0 GPA, they want someone that is well-rounded and will seek opportunities to improve themselves. It is critical for students at NVC take advantage of the trainings provided on campus as this will better prepare them for the workforce, and teach them how to deal with diversity, conflicts, and time management on campus and on their job. Overall, I believe I have been able to take something valuable from the program and apply it in various areas of my life. I am truly thankful for the opportunity to participate in the Leadership Program and will continue to share my testimony with other students on campus in hopes that they will participate in future programs.” Thank you, Latrice Wilkinson
