June 16, 2016 | SharkAdmin “It all began with my associate’s degree at NVC.” After receiving an associate degree from NVC in 2011 in teaching, Thomas Rux quickly headed to Texas A&M San Antonio. He will graduate in the spring of 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in special education with generalist and ESL endorsements. As a full-time student, father and husband, Thomas still finds time to get involved academically. He’s the president of the Texas A&M Chapter of Council for Exceptional Children; and the treasurer of Texas A&M’s chapter of Kappa Delta Pi. Thomas said he remembers having some exceptional professors at NVC, but more importantly having an associate degree has given him a sense of pride. “I have dreamed of being an educator, and my associate’s degree set the foundation for my continued educational success. God willing, this is only the beginning.” He encourages NVC students to listen to what professors have to say. “They bring value and real-world experience into the classroom. There is no such thing as a ‘know it all,’” Thomas said. “We can all find value in a conversation or lecture, but only if you listen.” Favorite Vista Value: Community
