NVC Included in Report on Texas Video Game Industry NVC is one of the 24 Texas colleges and universities identified in an Entertainment Software Association (ESA) report that offer video-game-related courses and programs. NVC offers an Associate of Applied Science, with a concentration in Game Development or a Specialization in Game Production. NVC also offers Certificates in Game Concept Art and Game Production. These degree and certificate programs prepare students to enter jobs in this rapidly growing industry. The ESA study shows that the computer and video game industry in Texas grew by nearly 16 percent since 2009 and added $764 million to the state's economy. Nationwide, the video game industry has grown at a pace that is 13 times that of the overall U.S. labor market — 9 percent vs. 0.72 percent — while adding $6.2 billion to the U.S. economy in 2012, and directly or indirectly employing more than 146,000 people. In Texas, total direct employment grew from 3,307 in 2009 to 4,926 in 2012, while direct plus indirect employment grew from 13,613 to 17,878. Texas employs the second highest number of people in the industry, or approximately 12 percent, and average compensation in 2012 was $101,349. The see the full report click here.
