September 3, 2012 | SharkAdmin Congratulations to all! Northwest Vista College is getting its second Baldrige visit. This could never have happened without the stellar work of so many NVC faculty and staff leading, creating the systems and processes required to serving students, carrying out our strategic plan, building relationships with students in and out of the classroom and fostering the kind of learning environment that produces positive results for students. This could also not have happened without the behind the scenes work of those who wrote the application, gathered the data and otherwise supported that process. For newer employees who may not be familiar with Baldrige, this site visit comes as a result of our 2012 application to the Baldrige Educational Performance Excellence Program. For more information on the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program and on the Education Criteria follow this link: http://www.nist.gov/baldrige/. Many folks participated in preparing for the first visit in 2011 and in talking with members of the visiting Baldrige Examiner team, so you may be somewhat familiar with the drill. We will know more about the details of our 2012 visit after Julie Pace, vice president of College Services, and I have a conference call Monday afternoon with the Examiner team leader. We think the visit will occur the week of October 11, but we will provide more information as it becomes available. So about Our Strategic Objectives and the One Goal Process As you know the three Northwest Vista Strategic Objectives are: Completion Learning Sustainability For each of the three objectives, we have chosen a result on which to focus for this academic year. As presented at our NVC Friday Convocation, we are looking to Improve student graduation rates Identify and effectively measure student learning outcomes Re-invigorate our can-do spirit Here is a link to three of the convocation slides about those three results areas. We also talked about each of us completing our “One Individual Goal” related to one of the three results areas. The goals are coming in. Thanks to those who have already submitted yours. If you haven’t yet done it, here is what to do. Go to the NVC website. Click on the “Faculty and Staff” tab at the top of the page. Click on “SharePoint” in the list on the left side of the screen. Click on “One Goal” in the list on the left side of the screen. A list will come up that contains various names and goals; scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on “add new item.” That should bring up the “Individual Goal” form. Fill out the form and then click on the submit button at the bottom of the form. If you run into problems, folks in my office or your vice president’s office or the adjunct faculty support office can help you.
